If you are planning to travel, remember to check current travel restrictions for England, travel restrictions for Wales, and for the country you are visiting.

The NHS COVID-19 app is the official contact tracing app for England and Wales. As well as contact tracing, the app allows users to check into venues, check symptoms and book a test. Read more about what the NHS COVID-19 app does.

If you travel to Scotland, Northern Ireland, Jersey or Gibraltar, the NHS COVID-19 app will still send you an alert if it detects that you have been in ‘close contact’ with another app user who has tested positive, regardless of whether they are using the NHS Covid-19 app or the Scotland, Northern Ireland, Jersey or Gibraltar app.

Additional functionality, such as the NHS QR code posters are only available in England and Wales. This means that you cannot use your app to check into venues in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Jersey and Gibraltar. You may need to provide your contact details when visiting certain venues. Make sure to check the local guidance of the area you are visiting.

If you develop coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms while you're outside of England or Wales, you should follow the local guidance of the country you are visiting.
