Your phone will tell you when you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus. The alert will say:

“Close contact notification. You have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19. Tap here for more details.”

In England, there is no longer a legal requirement for people with COVID-19 to self-isolate, however if you have any of the main symptoms of COVID-19 or a positive test result, the public health advice is to stay at home and avoid contact with other people. In Wales, if you have been contacted by NHS Wales Test, Trace, Protect via SMS text message, email or telephone and told to self-isolate, or have received notification of a positive test result, it is a legal requirement that you do so. Read more about the latest guidance in Wales.
