The NHS COVID-19 app is no longer in use and the Isle of Wight trial has now ended. This is archived information from 18 June 2020. If you still have the app, please uninstall it.
You should download the NHS COVID-19 app even if you have previously tested positive for coronavirus, or suspect you may have had it. If you did have coronavirus you probably have some immunity to it, but it’s not clear how long it will last, so it’s possible that you could become infected again.
Downloading the app will help protect your family, friends and those in your community as well as yourself. This is because the app supports the NHS's wider programme to stop the spread of the virus, called NHS Test and Trace. The quicker we can stop the spread of the virus, the sooner we can get back to a more normal life.
The app will also help us to better understand both where the virus is spreading and how fast it is spreading in different locations. This information could be used to better coordinate local responses to cases in the area.
